We spent the whole day , YES, the WHOLE day picking and pitting our cherries and we’re still not done! Two pies,(and counting), 20 cups of pitted , a quart of brandied, another quart ready to be pitted ( I gave up yesterday at around 4pm), and dehydrated, and I’d say today will most likely be a close second in quantity harvest !!! In a few days there’ll be a second harvest of equal amounts. IT’S THE PITS MAN but in the dead of winter when it’s dark and cold and the cherry tree is bare and sitting in a foot or more of snow I will remember these last couple days , the warm air, the sun, the beautiful little red berries , my husband up on the ladder…. and eat a piece of cherry pie and smile!
